Gareth Grimshaw Goddard was born on January 1st, 1951 in Wiltshire, England. His father, Geoffery, was a Ravenclaw alumnus and historian - his mother, Elisabeth, a Hufflepuff and Diviner at St. Mungo's. In 1957, Elisabeth gave birth to twins, a boy (Avery) and a girl (Helena). As much as Gareth had liked being an only child, he liked being a big brother more, and was a protective, supportive influence on the twins throughout their childhood. The trio were nigh inseperable, and very close - Gareth's first glimmer of magical talent occured when Avery fell from a tree he'd been climbing and stopped a foot shy of the ground at Gar's command.
The Goddards were a pureblooded family of some pedigree, able to trace their line back nearly to the time of Hogwarts' creation before losing track of it due to shoddy record-keeping. Their respectable wealth was most often put to humanitarian pursuits, however, with donations regularly made to wizarding charities, most often either libraries, museums, or hospitals.
Gareth was simultaneously thrilled and disappointed when his Hogwarts letter arrived, torn between a thirst for knowledge and a wish to stay with his siblings. His parents insisted he attend, however, and he soon found himself sorted into Hufflepuff, as his mother had been. As much as he missed his siblings, he was grateful he went, and soon grew an independant streak about a mile wide - he still spent a great deal of time with his siblings during the holidays, but not quite as obsessively as before, having developed an appreciation for a quiet room and a stack of books.
Something of a loner during his time at Hogwarts, Gareth's helpful tendencies materialized in the form of serving as a TA for Healing Arts during his last two years at the school, along with miscellaneous little acts of kindness mostly directed towards his housemates and the faculty. Once his siblings joined him at school, he took the time to show them around and introduce them to a few people, but as he was then in his seventh and final year, his free time was a very scarce commodity.
Upon graduation, Gareth chose to continue his education at St. Mungo's, though not in the same field as his mother - his attentions were focused on becoming an internist. After several years of study, Gareth became a Master in his chosen field, and has since taken up some remedial studies in herbology and hearth and home. He remains on staff at St. Mungo's to this day, one of the few Healers of his calibre ready and willing to make house calls at a moment's notice.
